Copy - or what we nowadays call content (thus demonstrating that the English language is not a sedentary beast), is the lifeblood which brings marketing and recruitment communications alive. 

The ability to get ideas, facts and sales messages from your head into the head of a potential customer, candidate, influencer or, indeed, competitor, in a compelling, intelligent and clear manner is a rare skill.

Much of my work involves writing just such content, for clients as varied as Financial Times Careers, Whyte and Mackay, Global Connects, Tesco Bank, Be-IT Resourcing, Robert Gordon University, Weetabix, Candidate.ID, Global Connects, Be-IT, Grant Thornton, Peace Recruitment and QuintilesIMS.

In addition to this commercial work, I have written and been published extensively in other areas; from academic papers to football history. I am the author of a pictorial history of the club and also of both editions of the Official History of St Johnstone FC, described, by the foremost authority on the subject, as "one of the very best football books, it stands in its own right as an indispensible aid to the understanding of Scottish football history."
